On my last inspection in Hardin County Ky I noticed a fairy common issue that most home owners do not see- an HVAC unit that was out of level. If you AC unit starts to lean- it can shorten the life of your unit. The AC is designed to be level and is usually placed on some type of a pad to support the unit. Over time water can erode the soil under the pad causing the unit to lean. It is this lean that will cause issues. Read more about it on the WaterSoftenerMaestro.com website.
The motor sits in an oil bath and if it is not level the oil will also ‘lean’ and this could leave some of the motor with less oil protection than it needs. This over time will cause the motor to wear out sooner than it should have.
Since the unit can be leveled easily- most home owners can correct this- however with all tips if you are not comfortable attempting this call an HVAC repair person. Leveling the unit will add to it’s life cycle.
